How patient you were in raising me
Flexible at times,
But never the push-over
You believed in listening to me first
Not just jumping straight to discipline
It made me feel good
When you gave me chances to grow
And learn by allowing me
To try things my way sometimes
That couldn’t have been easy –
But then again,
You were never one for short cuts
You gave all of yourself
In hopes of raising a well-rounded,
Grateful, respectful,
Caring and confident woman
And, I am all of those things and more
